Kieran Trippier finds himself in a precarious situation at Newcastle, having lost his spot at right-back to Tino Livramento. Despite manager Eddie Howe’s desire for the England international to remain at St James’ Park, there is a growing feeling that the 33-year-old may seek a temporary move away from the club before the end of the transfer window.
Trippier, who joined Newcastle for £12m from Atlético Madrid in January 2022, has been an integral part of Howe’s squad both on and off the field. Speculation has linked him with a move to Everton as a potential destination.
During Newcastle’s successful Champions League qualification campaign last season, Trippier not only solidified the defense but also provided an attacking threat, particularly from set-pieces. However, the veteran full-back has recently lost the team captaincy to Bruno Guimaraes, with Tino Livramento now occupying the starting right-back position.
As Newcastle secured a 1-0 victory over Southampton in their most recent match, Trippier was left on the bench as an unused substitute. With Livramento excelling in his absence, it appears that Howe sees the young defender as his preferred option on the right side of defense.
Reports suggest that Trippier has put his house up for sale and has been exploring potential moves away from the club. Interest from Bayern Munich, Atalanta, and Galatasaray has emerged, with a reunion with former manager Sean Dyche at Burnley being a possible option. A fresh challenge in Italy or Turkey could also be appealing to Trippier, who may be open to a new adventure in either league, following his previous desire to move to the Bundesliga.
